Managing Microbes for Nitrogen Cycle Sustainability

Watch Now

In this presentation, Jeanette Nortont explored the complexity of nitrogen fertility management which is due to the microbial processes of mineralization and nitrification. A promising approach, that is just beginning to be understood, are the interactions of nitrifying organisms with plants or microbes producing biological nitrification inhibitors. Climate-smart agriculture needs to be carefully optimized for nitrogen management strategies to remain effective while reducing environmental impacts.
